Sleep Training: The Game-Changer in Corporate Benefit Programs for New Parents

Great news! There’s a game-changer in Corporate Benefits Programs for new parents – sleep training support! We’ve heard that companies like Meta are beginning to offer sleep training services as an employee benefit. At Mommywise, we work with one hedge fund to provide corporate benefits, and we’re excited to partner with more progressive, family-friendly companies that truly care about their employees’ well-being by adding sleep training services to their Corporate Benefits Program. It’s a win-win-win. We get parents and babies sleeping in 3-4 days, we send employees back to work after parental leave feeling rested and confident about returning to work. We help employers attract and retain top talent, and that boosts productivity and the bottom line.

The Importance of Family Wellness in Corporate Benefit Programs

Employers know that happy, healthy employees are the backbone of successful companies, and they benefit from supporting employees with family wellness in their Corporate Benefit Programs. A recent Harvard Business Review study called the Caring Company noted that U.S. businesses lose $35 billion annually from failing to attract, support, and retain workers who have caregiving responsibilities.

Enhancing Employee Health and Wellness through Corporate Benefits

When I was a new parent in 2004, there were no Corporate Benefits programs for new families. In fact, there wasn’t even a pumping room and I had to pump in the bathroom. There are so many things that progressive employers do now to support working parents. From fertility treatment support to mental health wellness to postpartum support with a postpartum doula. All of these things boost employee commitment and loyalty.

The Power of Sleep Training in Corporate Benefit Programs

What employers are just starting to realize is that sleep deprivation is a serious problem for working parents, and the good news is that there is now a way to support them with sleep. Our sleep training services are a game-changer for both employers and employees because not only do we get parents and babies sleeping in 3-4 days, but we help moms and dads prepare for returning to work at full capacity. We give them a sleeping baby who’s on a predictable nap schedule during the day. We help pumping moms make plans for pumping and storing their milk. We help parents feel confident about leaving their babies with other caregivers. All of this helps parents return from parental leave feeling refreshed and ready to work again. Because they’re rested, it boosts productivity and allows parents to shine at work. Providing this kind of service helps employers attract and retain top talent, especially for mothers who tend to take on the burden of nighttime parenting if their baby isn’t sleeping. Rested employees are more committed to doing their jobs well, and sticking around!

The Role of Sleep Consultants in Corporate Benefit Programs

A sleep consultant is someone who helps parents teach their babies to sleep independently, through the night, and take predictable naps during the day. Our sleep consultants go beyond what most sleep consultants offer because we come to your home and help teach your baby how to sleep independently in person. Because we work in person, we’re able to partner with parents and help them get to know their babies, help them understand their cues, and get them sleeping faster and easier than any remote sleep consultant can. But, not all parents are willing and able to pay for our services. By adding our sleep training services to your Corporate Benefits Program, you can give equal access to a service that may be outside of their budget, or that they’re just unwilling to pay for.

Creating a Family-Friendly Workplace through Corporate Benefits

Not all companies are interested in creating a family-friendly workplace. Their Corporate Benefits Programs will show how committed employers are to their employees who are caregivers through what services they provide. If I were looking for a job as a soon-to-be parent, I would look at companies that offer childcare, hybrid, flex hours, a pumping room, postpartum doula services, mental health support, and sleep training services. Those are the most important Corporate Benefits for companies who truly want to stand apart as a family-friendly workplace.

Maximizing the Impact of Corporate Benefit Programs for New Parents

Corporate Benefits Programs for new parents should be more than just free services. They should include other non-tangible things that parents really want and need. Flex hours and work-from-home options are ideal for working parents. They will also want to ease back into work when they return. Instead of requiring that they come back on a Monday, have them start on a Thursday or Friday so they can practice leaving their baby with another caregiver for 1-2 days versus a whole week when they return.

There are many other ways you can support your employees as they return to work. Organize a night out sometime before they return so they can socialize with the team, learn what’s happened in their absence, and get their toes wet before they come back to the office. Most importantly, ask them how they’re feeling about returning to work and give them lots of grace.

Returning to work after parental leave is hard, but if you really want to support new parents (and keep them around!), be creative and generous. Add sleep training services as a Corporate Benefit for new parents, and see them come back to work feeling rested and ready to jump back in!
